WHO WE ARE
Yakima Foursquare Church exists for the purpose of helping people learn to Love God, Love People, and Serve the World.
This statement is the definition of what it means to be a disciple along with the process for discipleship.
Established in 1979, Yakima Foursquare Church is located in the heart of Central Washington, Yakima, WA. Yakima, WA, is known for its outdoor adventures, agriculture, diversity, and community events.
The vision for this statement comes directly from what is known in scripture as the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The Great Commandment can be found in Matthew 22:34-40 and Luke 10:27 and says that there are two commandments that Jesus explains to be greatest. The first commandment is that we should love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and all our mind (Luke added all our strength). The second is that we shall love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus also states in John 13:34 that we should love one another as Jesus loved us. This is why we Love God and Love People.
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus sits with his disciples and says this, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This is where we live the mission of serving the world. Serving the world revolves around our responsibility to go…this can play out in the church, in our community, and in our world.
